Portugal is small enough to explore completely and large enough to take a lifetime to truly know — roughly the size of Indiana, or slightly larger than New Brunswick. From Lisbon, a two-hour flight puts you in London, Paris, Amsterdam, Madrid, Rome, or Berlin. Living here is not retreating from the world; it is finding a more beautiful and affordable base from which to explore it.

Portuguese food is one of the greatest cuisines of Europe — and on the Silver Coast, with its fishing tradition and agricultural hinterland, it's at its best. Seafood is the foundation. The quality is exceptional and the prices extremely affordable.
Portuguese wine is one of the great under-explored wine cultures of the world. The Lisboa wine region and the Óbidos DOC are producing excellent wines at prices that would be unthinkable for equivalent quality elsewhere.
